British nine-member collective Nubiyan Twist does not do musical pigeonholing. This broad mix of highly virtuosic players, producers and composers join forces in a very own, unique and infectious sound that draws from jazz, hip-hop, afrobeat, dancehall, soul, reggae and dance. The collective also owes its eclectic sound in part to collaborations with many artists such as Seun Kuti, Mamani Keita and afrobeat master Tony Allen. Or as on their latest album Find Your Flame (2024) with Chic guitarist Nile Rodgers. Expect ultra-tight musicianship and a powerful big band sound, where worldly grooves, soul and fat horns, skillfully interwoven with electronic elements and spontaneous improvisation come together in an intoxicating and sun-drenched atmosphere.
