Natchav (8+)
Compagnie Les ombres portées (FR)
Ingenious shadow theater with live music
In the darkness of early morning, the Natchav circus arrives in town. The first poles are driven into the ground; the sound of the immense canvas floats through the air as tent poles are hoisted to the sky. Suddenly the authorities – out of concern for safety – order the circus to leave. The circus performers revolt, and one of the acrobats is arrested and imprisoned. Then the circus troupe, along with the other prisoners, decides to stage a spectacular escape.
Natchav in Romani means “go away, run away. The show depicts the adventures of a circus that – in order to stay free – defies every rule, including the laws of gravity. Without words, the members of Compagnie Les ombres portées accompany a play of shadow, light and live music a story full of ingenuity and unexpected twists. An original composition between reality and fantasy as a taste of freedom.
“The conception of this magical show is simply brilliant. […] Natchav demonstrates that, withboundless imagination, shadow theater is truly high art.” – Le Figaro
