Cavolo Nero is a psychedelic groove band from Utrecht, born out of love for funk, disco and afrobeat. They derived the band name from the black cabbage, cavolo nero, commonly found in Tuscan specialties such as minestrone and ribollita. Their debut EP took Cavolo Nero straight to Noorderslag and festivals such as Down The Rabbit Hole, Zwarte Cross and Into The Great Wide Open in 2022. Earlier this year their second EP Nightshade was released, again featuring a unique blend of modern Afrobeat, overwhelming psychedelia, synthesizers and a touch of indie pop.
