This year Theater Titanick can be seen again during Cultura Nova with ‘Alice on the Run’ at the Europaplein in Kerkrade. On Wednesday 29 to 31 August Theater Titanick will perform a contemporary version of Alice in Wonderland during Cultura Nova. Theater Titanick, founded by artists from Münster and Leipzig, is no stranger to Cultura Nova.
Last year the company opened the international theater festival by performing in the Heerlen city center two nights in a row.
‘Alice on the Run’
Alice on the Run ‘is a spectacular outdoor performance, in which visitors are taken on a journey to the unknown. In her search for a new ‘home’ Alice meets bizarre figures, uprooted stray animals and grim guards. Lewis Carroll’s fable Alice in Wonderland is brought to the present – including contemporary problems, such as the refugee crisis – without spoiling the original magic.
War, hunger and persecution are the most challenging issues of our time. In ‘Alice on the Run’ Theater Titanick takes the fairy-tale quest from Alice in Wonderland to the white rabbit to the here and now. The German spectacle company reads the Lewis Carroll fable politically, but without taking away its magic.
